Choose the Hair oil according to the Hair type
1. Normal hair
When your hair is normal than you can use hair oils like almond oil, jojoba oil, Indian gooseberry (amla) oil as normal hair are not very dry or oily thus these oils are adequate enough to provide moisturization and the benefits of oiling the scalp. Read: Sesa hair oil review
2. Dry hair
When the scalp is dry and the hair too are dry with split ends and roughness, then oils like coconut oil, castor oil, olive oil etc are excellent. Coconut oil is best for the split ends and to keep the scalp moisturized. Olive oil also keeps the hair strands moisturized thus hair looks manageable after massaging with olive oil. You can use Figaro Olive oil as that is easily available in India. There is one oil that may not smell the best but is very beneficial for dry hair that is mustard oil. Mustard oil provides immense hydration to dry scalp and dry hair.
3. Scalp with dandruff
When your scalp has dandruff then you can try oils like lavender oil, almond oil, castor oil etc but you have to also mix 10-12 drops of tea tree oil, neem oil etc in that. Since dandruff is a fungal infection of the scalp and neem oil and tea tree oil both have the anti fungal properties. Therefore, they will help to eliminate the dandruff.
4. Oily hair and scalp
When the scalp is already oily then the heavy oils like olive oil, coconut oil will be overtly hydrating for oily hair thus you can apply lavender oil, jojoba oil, Argan oil which are lighter yet gives moisturization to the scalp without being too heavy or greasy in nature. You can try hair serums like Livon silk serum with Moroccon Oil which has Argan oil and also has non greasy texture. But this is a serum not hair oil so, good to oily hair.
Some oiling tips
While you oil the hair then first of all lightly warm the oil and then using the fingers section the hair.
Take some oil on your fingers and apply that on the scalp.
